The Importance Of The Twenty Week Pregnancy Checkup For Husbands

Posted on: 15 May 2017

For those of you that do not know, the 20 week checkup during a pregnancy is a big one. This is the appointment where you can actually have the gender of your baby revealed. With modern technology it can be done a few weeks earlier, but 20 weeks is usually when this takes place. There are a few things that you as a husband can do to prepare for this important appointment. This article is going to go over a few simple things that you can do that will make this appointment a special one.

Be Invested

The fact that you are going to go to the appointment is a great thing however, you are going to want to make sure that you are fully there in the ultrasound room. It is a good idea to leave your phone out in the car and make sure that you are paying attention. You want to be invested for a few different reasons. The first reason that you want to be invested is that you are going to be able to see your unborn child, and find out the gender. The second reason that you want to be all there in the ultrasound room is that it is going to be a very sweet moment for you and your spouse.

For Your Wife

You do not need to, but preparing a small gift for your wife and unborn child is something that will turn a sweet moment into a memory that will last forever. You do not need to go overboard with this gesture. Something as simple as picking out an outfit for a boy and a girl, and giving your wife this gift after the appointment will make her entire pregnancy. It is going to be the small things that really help her get through a pregnancy, and it is the small things that really help bond a family.

Prepare For Great And Bad News

During this appointment you are either going to hear great news, or it is possible to hear bad news from the ultrasound. No matter what type of news comes from the ultrasound it is going to be very important that you are there to support your spouse. If it is great news then you can celebrate together. If you get bad news from the ultrasound that the baby is sick or worse, you are going to need to be a rock for your spouse to confide in.

Spotlight on Reproductive Health

When I was growing up, I always knew that I wanted to have children, but I wanted to wait until I had graduated from college and had a stable career to have one. One I was married and settled down, we began attempting to conceive, but with no luck. I almost gave up on having a child before I even consulted my OBGYN about my problem. She gave me many helpful tips for conceiving and after following her tips, I finally became pregnant with my first child! I think that more women need to become informed about their reproductive health and what affects it, so I decided to start a blog to share tips my OBGYN has given me and advice about other female health topics that I have learned since. I hope I can help you learn more about female health!
